From C’EST CLAIRE MUSIC

C’est Claire is the nom de plume for Claire Wadsworth, a high desert resident, and owner of the highly acclaimed Flamingo Heights restaurant, La Copine. Claire was born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1984 to a tapestry weaver and songwriter-turned-chemical-engineer. Because her parents were American, she could not be claimed as a Swedish citizen, making Claire a “child of the universe”. Throughout her life, Claire has always been surrounded by music, from her father’s prolific songwriting to her sister’s incredible vocal abilities, she choose to study Vocal Performance and Songwriting at Berklee School of Music. Playing piano since she was 4, Claire began to write music at a young age. After graduating Berklee with honors in 2006 and honing her skills, she moved to NY to help her mother with her art consulting firm, and to “unlearn” everything from music school in order to feel like an artist again.

After a cross country roadtrip, Claire decided to move to Philadelphia from NY to be closer to her sister, Ali, where she felt like there was a more supportive music community. She met her wife, Nikki, chef & co-owner of La Copine, at a dinner party one night. Since that day, the two have remained together, partners in business and in life.

In 2012, Claire & Nikki moved to California to legally get married, and quickly found themselves on a “good path” in Los Angeles. Claire worked part time at the legendary recording studio, The Village, and taught private music lessons throughout the city. One fateful Earth Day spent in Joshua Tree changed their lives. Within a month, the two had relocated to the high desert. Soon after, Claire met Charlie Stavish, owner and producer at Yucca Valley recording studio, Clock Tower Recorder. With Charlie, Claire has made two complete albums, First Lessons, Second Chance, and a third record, Rule Of Three, on the way.

Claire finds inspiration in her restaurant, it’s her “storytelling laboratory…On the surface, she’s checking reservations and greeting customers, but, behind the eyes, she’s a collector of anything she can use in her songs.”_B. Goulet for Desert Magazine, March 2020.
